While travelling through Europe this year we stopped in Vienna. I had no idea why I wanted to go there or what I wanted to see, I just knew I wanted to visit it! And when we started looking up what to do there, we were blown away at the amount of things you can do and see, and the best part is a lot of it is free! We visited so many palaces and gardens, they were all so amazing! The landscaping, sculptures and architecture were stunning! My favorite place was probably Schonbrun, the arch ways of vines and lilacs were incredible, and those greenhouses that look like early 1900’s architecture with the wirey metal structures, amazing! And once you hike through all of the gardens and up a very large hill, you have the most amazing views! and on the way back down there are so many more things and sculptures and fountains you can stop and see! While in Vienna we stayed at a hotel right across the street from the Opera, it was the perfect location to see most things via walking and hop on the trains to visit the farther sights! I must say the one thing I always pictured when I thought of vienna was the biggest let down of all and that was Hunderwasser House. I didn’t realize it was just a painting on the side of a building until we made it all the way out there, save your time, visit more palaces instead!
