A few words from Brittany about this session: One of my favourite things about putting together a style post is finding beautiful local venues to shoot. That being said, Ollia Macarons & Tea was at the top of my to shoot list. Not only are the french macarons and hand-blended teas sweet, but the couple that own it (David and Lindsay) are too!
Although I thoroughly enjoy eating macarons (and I’m good at it), they make for a pretty perfect fashion prop as well! If you are a local to Calgary and you haven’t checked out Ollia yet, you really must! Aside from a scrumptious selection of treats, they also offer classes where you can learn to make your very own macarons…I myself quickly became a master of the art (her voice dripping with sarcasm).
Today I am wearing a dress from Express, which I’ll admit is a little out of my comfort zone shade-wise. As a girl who tends to stick to neutrals it was a bit of a (pleasant) shock to see my reflection in this little number. Although I don’t wear it often, cobalt is definitely one of my favourite colours. I think it’s a great statement shade and a lot less come and get me like, for example, red.
Cobalt would be an excellent option for sporting to your next holiday party too! With Black Friday nearly upon us, make sure to take full advantage of all the early sales! Other cobalt dresses I’m loving include this (up to 40% off at ModCloth, this (40% off at Banana Republic), this (25% off at Shopbop) and this one (30% off at Nordstrom). Since a colour like cobalt is so striking on its own, I decided to pair it with a statement necklace and nude heels. To top off my look I popped on a pink-coral lipstick, easy peasy!
