I’m not gonna lie, in an instant world where everyone wants a quick glimpse of something they can double tap on their phone, it’s kind of hard to stay motivated in putting together entire blog posts that people probably aren’t going to take the time to visit. That being said, I find that I am brought back to the whole reason I even started Life, Set Sail…for myself. If you ever wanted to start a blog, you’ve got to make sure you’re doing it for you first…I cannot stress this enough. Almost every photo on LSS is taken by a professional photographer. We travel, shoot from sunset to sunrise, send off film to get developed, wait around for it, make simple edits, put together a layout and THEN I still have to think of something clever or insightful to write about! And I’m not even going to get into the whole business side of things (pitching companies, negotiating rates etc.) It’s no picnic…but things are done this way because both my photographer and I are passionate about what we do and we want to make it as beautiful as possible! I love instagram as much as the next person, but I really hope that people will start looking for more than just a pretty image…I know I’m getting tired of it. More and more I want to seek out real blogs and be able to read something with actual substance.
