A few words from Brittany Messner about her favourite lipsticks: The lipsticks selected in todays post are featured not only because the shades are both classic and unique but they are all hydrating and feel light on the lips as well, whether they are matte, sheer, or satin. After all, if the makeup you wear doesn’t make you feel comfortable in your own skin then why wear it at all?
For the nude lover out there, the Clarins Joli Rouge Lipstick in Tea Rose is a great place to start. The Clarins lip products are some of my favourites out there because of how easy they are to wear. They glide on effortlessly, are hydrating, and look and smell amazing!
For the quintessential Fall/Winter shade I’ve selected the Bite Beauty’s Sugared Maple which was a part of the Canadian Maple Matte Crème collection and unfortunately now a little hard to find. However, the shade Mulled Wine is very similar and also a great option for those after the perfect berry lip. You can also keep an eye out for the Frozen Berries collection to come back in stock if you’re still after that matte finish, but keep in mind that Bite’s version of matte is not true matte (more on the creamy side).
The classic girl will love my deep, true red selection. The Make Up For Ever Rouge Artist Intense in shade 8 is one that I’ve been wearing on repeat. If you’re interested in a step by step guide on creating a long lasting, flawless red lip you can check out my tutorial here.
Matte lovers will adore Urban Decay’s Matte Revolution offerings which are, hands down, the best matte’s I’ve ever tried. If, like me, you suffer from dry skin then you are definitely going to want to pick up a few of these! The formula is hydrating and wont cling (too much) to your dry spots. Finally a matte lipstick I can get on board with! I’m a fan of many shades, but have a bit of a soft spot for the purply hue of Bittersweet.
Lastly I’ve really been enjoying an old favourite, Rosy by Bobbi Brown. While it’s not a classic shade for this time of year, it’s pinky-orange hue compliments most complexions while giving a subtle pop of colour too. I love how light and sheer it feels even while the formula is quite opaque.
