From Lindsay: First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes… moving in together and merging 2 distinct home decor styles into a cohesive look that represents both partners as they start their life together as husband and wife! Lucky for newlyweds Lindsay and Chad, they agree on about 80% of home decor choices. The challenge is that final 20% (and we all know the devil is in the details!).
After tying the knot in 2015, Lindsay and Chad bought their first home together: a 650 square foot apartment in Calgary’s inner city. Once they were approved for their mortgage and the purchase was confirmed, the real fun began: home decor. Lindsay typically opts for pretty, floral, feminine styles whereas Chad prefers rustic, farmhouse-inspired and vintage looks. Lucky for them, they both share a love for classic pieces that won’t date themselves and plants. Lots of plants.
The final result is something that can only be described as mid-century-modern-meets-industrial-meets-personal touch. Aka: eclectic. White walls create the perfect fresh background to let the furniture and decor speak for themselves. The hardwood floors are neither too light or too dark to assume any particular style. It took Lindsay and Chad about a year to find the perfect balance of feminine and masculine, light and dark, heavy and light, old and new – but the final product is a space they are both happy to call “home”.
